Nah, men's silk long underwear is cheaper, more durable and not likely to cause odd looks form others. Your local sporting goods or "outdoorsman" type store will have some. As a bonus, you can get a long sleeved shirt of the same material to keep your torso warm as well as your legs.

You can wear all the panty hose you want. I would think long johns would be warmer, so admit it...you like wearing womens underwear. Get off the cold crap.

i usually wear pantyhose under my jeans when i go outside in winter. it feels nice and it does help keep the warmth in.. go for it..
