Do you have a spotter working with you and are you going for max weight? If not then add more weight once you can do 8-10 reps at the current weight. Also, you should do at least 1 warmup set and 1 set of the lower weight before doing 2-3 sets of the higher weight. To get stronger you also want to vary your exercises and do some stretching to make the muscle longer and more useful.

just so you know, you spelled weight wrong.... two times...

you should constantly challenge yourself within reason so you do not injure yourself. so, it depends upon how often you work out and how many reps you do. there is not actually an answer, so you must listen to your body.
