Bure wore number 10 for the first few years as a Canuck and then changed it to number 96. He did not part with the team on very good terms but set and still hold several significant scoring records.

I doubt that they would retire his number any time soon. Like you said, he did leave there on slightly bad terms. I would expect to see them retire Trevor Linden's number before they retire Bure's.

Everyone here in Vancouver knows hims as Number 10. All his short handed goals were in a Number 10. And Vancouver fans know that there is still no one in hockey as exciting or as fast to watch as he was. Gaborik or Crosby still don't don't come close to the speed and skill that Bure had in his short career. They should retire his number, but I'd rather see Bure call upon the Russians to retire Gary Bettmans number instead.

I think if any team Pavel played for were to retire his number, it would be Vancouver. He scored the majority of his points(478 out of 779) and played the majority of his games(428 out of 702) there. I think the club would prefer to retire 96, due to the fact that it is used far less commonly then 10. I do not believe, however, that Bure's play and contribution to the club warranted him the honour of having his number retired.

No they shouldn't. First off the only team that should usually retire a player's number is the one they retire with. As you said he left the team on bad terms so unless they retire the 10, in memory of when things were better, then I would say don't retire it at all.

Umm.. which ever one he played the best in. But they should retire, considering he wasn't the greatest player, but he was very good. He deserves to have his number retired, he's a key reason that his team made the playoffs/Stanley Cup.
