Surely it's about time the country was asked if we want to bring back the death penalty all the do gooders can say what they want but I am convinced that when I was younger in the 40s,50,and 60s we didn't have as many murders as we have now and certainly not so many of this type.

Not just Britain. I think the law has become so lax with offenders that going to prison is no deterrent. They see it as a holiday and maybe the government should think long and hard about changing things. Too many of these human rights lawyers try and get the best for these people. How would they feel if something like this happened to their child? Would they still try and get the best for that person? I think not. We are now a nanny state and we need to get back to punishing these people, not mollycoddling them .

Ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?! Obviously it's so awful what has happened but he needs to be tried by an unbiased jury, and found guilty (if he is) on the basis of clear evidence, not just public opinion. Other people lived in and around that house and had contact with that little girl, and it's not like all police arrests have resulted in guilty convictions. If he is guilty then he is a monster, but if it turns out he is innocent then i feel sorry for him because his reputation is lost forever.

Michael Mullen will not get an easy ride in prison. Everyone inside that prison will have him marked, and the inmates will be ready to mete out their own punishment, and believe me they will. The screws will turn a blind eye without it being obvious, because that's what happens inside to people like that.
Mullen should be shaking in his boots - justice is about to be served !!!

No as that can take several mins to kill which is cruel.Either get a sharp sword and cut his head off (Highlander style) which gives instant death or cut his throat and he'll die of blood loss in less than a minute.

i hope he's raped in prison every which way and with everything available every day of his life.
Denis, I dont think he will ever come out of prison - the law and the courts know that he's a dead man once he steps outside

yes I think we should, its sick, my daughter is the same age and I just can't imagine what that poor baby went through before her death. How can anyone inflict that on a child

personally i would cheese grate him to death.
I do not have the words to express how I feel about this, if I said on here all that I really wanted to say on the matter I would get violation after violation.

its totaly disgusting he should be hung for that,but what will happen.he will be sent to prison for a few years then released with money in his pocket and maybe a new name.if they need somebody to hang him count me in
