I am going to Vegas in a few weeks and was considering staying at the Luxor. Has anyone stayed there or been there lately that can tell me how the hotel is? Or what othe hotels are fun to stay at?

We go about every other year to Vegas. And this is our year to go. We stay at the Luxor. It is very nice. It is a bit more quiet and less crowded than some of the other strip hotels. We really like that since we have children. They have a great buffet and are connected by a free tram to Mandalay Bay & Excalibur. It is at the South end of the strip, so if you want to go to many places on the Northern part of the strip you may need transportaion (car,taxi,bus).
We really do like the Luxor a lot.

The Luxor isn't bad, and overall better than many in it's price range. Most visits to Las Vegas I have stayed at places which have cost more, and not suprisingly I much prefer those hotels (Bellagio, Manadalay Bay, Mirage, Wynn). However, Luxor has good points and is usually available at an inexpensive price.
My main complains: Rooms in the pyramid often mean extremely long walks to/from the elevator, and the rooms are small (rooms in the towers tend to be nicer). Many of the non-smoking rooms clearly have been smoking rooms in the past and smell of smoke. Service is fair and I would generally expect a little more. Parking can be problematic during very busy times (but this is not normally a problem... but there should be more).
Personally, in this price range I would probably stay at Treasure Island (though I've not been there for a couple years so take that with a grain of salt). If you are looking to stay at the South end of the strip (near Mandalay Bay, MGM, and NYNY) Luxor is a good choice. If you want to go a higher end, Mandalay Bay (or higher still, The Hotel at Mandalay Bay).

The Luxor Hotel is a very nice place, Try and stay in the paramid part of Hotel The elivator which is called the Inclinator is really cool it moves from side then up side then up its really cool. The beam on top of the hotel is cool also at night. Yes it is at the end of the strip but with warm weather walking is nice you can always walk to nearby Hotels and take the Tram trains further down the strip. dont forget to visit downtown vegas lots of slots were you get 99 cent footlong hotdogs they are great.

Yeah I went for New Years and the Luxor is a nice hotel to stay at I'd recommend it to anyone I'm going back in June. Have fun!!!

I stayed at the Luxor a few years ago. It was really nice - and it was awesome that the elevators went diagonally because of the shape of it. But if you want something REALLY fun, I would suggest going to another hotel. What about MGM or the Paris?

The Luxor is ok. Rooms are a little small. Its at the end of the strip near Mandalay Bay. My favorite hotel was either NY NY, MGM, or Treasure Island.... all fun hotels! MGM has comfy beds! Have a great time in Vegas!

I stayed there about five years ago and it was nice. It is at the end of the strip, which can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on which way you think about it. I didn't use the pool since we were active during the day and the pool is closed at night. I've never stayed in any of the other hotels in Vegas.

The Luxor is nice and different with slanted windows if you stay in the pyramid. I also like the Excalibur it is fun, a bit cheaper and one block further up the strip towards more of the busy areas.

If you stay at the Luxor do not get a room in the pyramid. Get a tower room less traffic.

I liked it. I stayed there in 1999. The only thing that was not fun was hiking from the parking garage to my room in the Pyramid. But, it's a clean, safe place to say. Security is REALLY good too. When I stayed there, I was with my mom, and we were going upstairs, and because there were four drunk guys in the elevator at the time, security stopped us and had us wait for the next elevator. I was impressed.
