Does a higher gain (dBI) in WiFi Antennas mean better reception? I'm trying to get a signal from far away. I was thinking of buying a high gain parabolic outdoor antenna.

When you say far away, if you mean next door or across the street, then you can make a spherical reflector out of aluminum foil and get hi gain directional reception.

Dbi is the unit of length for the ratio of enter potential to output potential. So definite the better the Db it would want to have a more effective powerful signal stregnth, each 10db strengthen represents a 10 fold in signal strengthen, even as a 10db decrease might want to also represent a relief in signal amplitude by potential of tenfold.
