im in the middle of a college assignment and its driving me mad.i have a site plan of 1:50 and i need to sketch the bathroom to a scale of 1:20.do i measure the 1:50 plan at 1:20?

i thought the scale rule was supposed to make things simple?isnt there a simple way to convert the measurements of the 1:50 plan to a 1:20 scale measurement?

2 divisions on your 1:50 ruler = 5 divisions on 1:20 ruler.
Every dimension is multiplied by 2.5

Your going to have conflicting scales on the same set of prints.
If you have the bathroom measurements you can draw it in using the 1" = 50 feet scale and it will be correct. Either that or you need to have a blow up to the side of the main plan drawn at the 1 inch equals 20 feet scale. You need to measure the area in question using the 50 scale get those measurement and draw a new design using the 20 scale. Your engineer's rules has the distances on the side of it so you can read the footage.
