I would go with either Reyes, Howard,Soriano or ARod. Santana is a stud but the fantasy teams that draft starting pitching first almost never win (I won 1st place in 6 of 8 in Yahoo fantasy baseball leagues last year and never drafted a starting pitcher before the 9th round). SS and 3rd base are very weak once you get past the top 5 players at each position so consider that while drafting and remember that 1st base is pretty deep (Derrick Lee should slide down a couple rounds, Todd Helton...forget last season, he got sick and lost a lot of weight in spring training and never regained his strength or Prince Fielder...nice rookie year and improved over the second half of the season...a great indicator of how a rookie responds their second season). If it were me i would pick Reyes as you would be dominant at SS and he fills all categories very well. Good luck!

Reyes is the better pick, Fat Albert should be 1, and I don't think that Howard will get the picthes to match last years numbers, but Reyes should be able to reduplicate last year, since he is the lead off man, and you never walk the lead off man. Howard will still have a good year, but we may see the Barry Bonds treatment given to the young guy, which is unfortunate, but that's baseball in the longball era!!

Assuming Pujols goes 1st, if not he is the obvious choice. After that I would lean towards Johan Santana. He is the most dominate pitcher in the game and will get you Wins, Strikeouts, a low ERA and WHIP. If you want a hitter, A-Rod and Soriano are both good choices, followed by Howard, Reyes, Chase Utley, and Carl Crawford.

ARod is the #a million guy this year, for specific, yet Jose Reyes is the #2. it seems very lopsided to would desire to throw in a 2nd around %. like Howard to make up the version. the only reason i might take that commerce is that if Ryan gave the impact of he might get injured lower back, or the gang that i became fielding became already 1st place in SB and not going to drop greater suitable than a place or 2 via the season's end.

Take Reyes. He's a great all around player and will only improve. Unless the #1 loses his mind and doesn't pick Pujols.

Utley, I go with position scarcity and pick him. 1b is stacked with great players. SS would be ok but Jimmy Rollins and Hanley Rameriz are two other shortstops with the speed of Reyes and the added benefit of popping a dinger. Howard doesn't have reliable protection and will be walked a crap load so I would shy away from drafting him. Thanks

You have to take Soriano or Reyes. They are four tool players. That's why A-Rod was #1 for so long. You can't pass on 40/40 type players.
There will be plenty of power hitters available.

Like everyone else has said. Go with Santana! As far as a hitter, go with Reyes or Soriano! They are more productive with overall stats/ points.

The top 5 are, see what others do but here are my top 5:
1 Pujols
(if your league is pitcher heavy, if not he is 7th ) 2 Santana
(if not pitcher heavy, if it is he drops to 3) 2/3 Soriano
3/4 Reyes
4/5 Howard

If you get lucky and Pujols is available, pick him. Otherwise I would go with someone who is not going to let you down in any game, Santana. But if you want a hitter first before a pitcher then go with Howard. He's young and can only get better.
