Im having a problem with my keyboard, it seems to start my computer in SAFE MODE. My keyboard has 3 lights above the F keys..One is "1" scond is "A" and third is a bold "down arrow" figure. What is the "down arrow" for? I have never seen it light up before until today when my keyboard is dying.

Thanks in advance!!

Scroll Lock. It has its purposes, but most people don't use it.

It is a carry over from pre-mouse days. It allows the screen to move (with the arrow keys) without moving the cursor.

These days some applications will do that, some won't.

It sounds like you have a stuck key, though. If you have another keyboard, try switching it out and see if it works. Otherwise press each key with your computer off a few times. Unplug it and replug it back in.

Just a few things to try.

It's the Scroll Lock icon. Very few programs support the scrolling prevention nature of this key.

I just noticed a couple of days ago that it was on and I couldn't turn it off by just pressing the button. I must have turned it on accidentally. All I did was restart my computer and it stayed off. Hope this works for you.
