I shall be grateful if someone can direct me to a site which gives facts and figures about typical cell-site antenna radiation patterns, measured RF radiation levels within a building, safe radiation levels, etc.

its not safe
radiation should be at the lowest level but even so the long time living close, period is the problem ,if you are exposed to this for a long time you have to do some measurements, in the market you can find equipment

I have no time to give detailed info. However... as far as I know, cell antenas are very directional. meaning they radiate in a straight path. They try to make it so they radiate in a pattern that basically looks like a flat dish hovering over the earth. They can't make the tower too high cuz then they would have to aim the antenas down and the signal would hit the earth and that's where it would end. the aim is a plane of radiation which is paralel and fairly close to the surface. Microwaves can go through pretty much anything and a faraday cage would have to be all metal with no holes larger than 1 mm to keep radiation from entering.
Also, as far as I know, I don't think cell towers use huge amounts of power, because the idea is to have a grid of towers to cover an area. I don't think it makes much sense for a celltower to have much power.
Imagine there's a cellphone that can transmit to a distance of say 5 miles, but this cellphone is 10 miles from the nearest tower. Now if the tower is powerful enough, it can reach the phone, but the phone can't reach the tower, so you only have 1 way communication, which doesn't work.
microwaves travel in a straight beam and are line of sight transmissions, as opposed to say shortwave radio that bounces all over the place and can bend, reflect and follow the curvature of the earth.

Anyway, my guess is if you're sitting under the plane of radiation, you're still exposed to rf radiation, but it is way less than being in the path of that plane.

there is no doubt that you would experience a higher than average RF exposure.

However, this exposure would be less than that of a cell phone talker on his /her cell phone.

Also the body is not a good antennae for cell phone energy so it passes right through with no problem.

Studies have shown no health risk due to RF exposure.

A far greater RF source, (by like a factor of 100X) is ordinary household wiring which radiates a huge 60Hz RF signal everywhere that there is power. This is why no one goes any where near 60Hz with their far weaker communications signals.

If RF power were to prove harm-full, it would have done so long ago as we have lived with electricity now for over 100yrs.

It is perfectly safe. The antennas are highly directional, and little radiation would be aimed at the building. Because of skin effect, such radiation as reaches the building inhabitants does not penetrate the body so no injury can arise.

Of all the things to worry about you decide to stress about silly things like radiation from an antenna.go an measure the amount of crap u americans are pumping into the atmosphere and measure the measures ur country isn't taking to curb it.
