Well most prescription sleeping pills are addictive but zopiclone 3.5 mgs is a good one and I didn't have any serious withdrawals after I stopped using it after being in hospital for 6 weeks. Plus another28 days weaning me off. It really is a good one-a real knock out drop. Don't know if they harm you or not. I would not touch any of the Benzodiazepines like diazepam or temazepam. Highly addictive and horrible withdrawals. There is another non addictive one called Chloral hydrate which your doc will prescribe-non addictive. Exercise is a good way to tire the body. Or if you drink--a nightcap. If you are depressed anti-depressants all have a sedative effect. A natural anti depressant is St John's Wort which you can buy in the supermarket. They work ok. I hope you find the right method. If you have any worries, try and share them. Make a list each time a worry comes to mind-things you need to do but haven't done. These cause a nagging worry within me and I sometimes wonder why i feel anxious. The answer is a build of of things in my life I need to deal with. Its is good to get it down on paper and see things in black and white.

I've battled insomnia for a decade, and I have made some serious progress. Get exercise daily, before 6:00pm. Avoid caffeine after 3 pm, or better yet, completely. Try to be organized, so you don't dwell on things when it is bedtime. Don't use your bedroom for anything except sleep and sex. Go to be and get up at the same time daily (VERY important), no matter how tired you are in the morning. Of course, there are an array of drugs that help incredibly, but in my experience, anything that works is potentially addictive. However, if you need it for short term treatment, go see a doc!

Hello there i have had trouble getting to sleep in the past and have tried numerous things but the one remedy that stands out is chocolate horlicks. Its a hot chocolate malt drink that helps me get to sleep. Its on special in Tesco you are getting 2 boxes for £3. Well worth the money!! It has added vitamins and minerals too so better for you than normal hot chocolate. Hope this helps.

well, depending on my mood, the time of week and month, then i can go on about 4 hours of sleep and sometimes i can go for 10. i don't reccomend that though. i sau at least 7-9 hours of sleep. go to bed at a decent time, think happy thoughts and stuff you like (seriously), be comfortable, maybe have on the television for a bit, don't stress, say your prays if you pray, and maybe a little midnight snack (but nothing heavy that would stick or no caffine or hard carbs that'll give you energy and keep you up).

Eat a potato with a little butter before you go to bed. Sound weird, but it works to increase your serotonin levels, which is the brain chemical needed for sleep. Try it for a week.
(and cut down on caffeine too, btw)

Remove clutter from your bedroom, it will help you relax.A hot milky drink and a soak in the bath, then straight to bed, no stimulant like tv or caffine.Soothing background music may help too.Lavendar oil on your pillow is good too.
