im sick of this now, there are people just as big in rugby, not everyone is massive in nfl just as everyone isnt massive in rugby, there are people of all differant sizes. plus the question was why do americans think there are no big hits in rugby not which players are stronger.

Because the players are larger (typical lineman is 290-320 lbs, typical linebacker is 220-250 lbs), slower (an NFL linebacker can normally run about 4.80 on the 40 meter dash) and the players are more reckless because they know you can't bruise a person wearing armor. You can however, break their bones if they land wrong, just like rugby. No amount of armor prevents that.

Because compared to their version rugby is quite soft-American footballers are twice the size of rugby players and move much faster, Rugby is a slow game compared to it. The combination of size & speed make U.S football tackles explosive!! I've seen both and U.S Football is by far more brutal!! Not all Americans think that there aren't big hits, but Rugby players need to accept that the Nfl has a higher death rate and a higher rate of paralysis compared to Rugby. And i'm English by the way-also a rugby fan.

We do not know much about your sport and I apologize for my fellow Americans who spoke out of turn.
