I wake up 3 to 4 times a night. Mostly to go to the bathroom and sometimes lately, i eat. I am not sleep walking so I know what I am doing, but I don't know why all of a sudden I am doing this.

You could possibly have a physical condition like sleep apnea, or just something disturbs you like a bad dream or a noise. Do you have things on your mind lately work, relationship or anything that would be making you nervous? Well if it keeps up like we all say see your Dr. Maybe you just have a big fat dog or cat who likes to jump on you in the middle of the nite and sleep with you...lolol

Everybody wakes up several times a night. The problem is when you end up staying awake for several minutes rather than returning to sleep.

If you are going to the bathroom then that might be the source of the problem. Try not to drink fluids within 1 hour of going to bed.

Has something changed in the surroundings where you sleep? Changes in furnishings, noises, light level, etc... can make it more difficult to return to sleep. Your sleep schedule can be part of the equation too. Try to keep a schedule.

If you are male and over 30, you might have an enlarged prostrate causing increased urge to run to the bathroom. An infection might also cause increased urge.

If you are getting older this is natural. Try not drinking any liquids after 7:00 every evening!! When you wake up have some place to go like to your PC. Answers itself might become your favorite
place or a million other websites. Never just lay there and fret.
Good Luck!! @8-) If all else fails, your MD can prescribe Ambien
or a medication like it!!

Do you have a lot of stress in your life right now? Are you drinking alcohol after 8pm at night? Could be any number of things. Look at your lifestyle first and see if you have had any drastic changes of late.

i have the same problem lately... and i often can't go back to sleep afterward.

are you stressed? that is the reason i don't sleep most of the time.
