I'm having a problem with someone at work. He's the head chef at the hotel I work at. I'm at front desk. Before xmas I had an allergic reaction to something from the kitchen and he was talked to about it by managment. He has never said anything to me about how I was feeling or if I was ok and showed no concern over the issue to me. I let it go. But yesterday, I took a cup of coffee from the coffee shop in the lobby without paying for it. The staff there let us take it. I got called into the office by 2 of the head managment and I got written up and they tried to force me to give them names of other people who do this and allow it but I didn't. Turns out the chef saw me take the coffee and ratted me out. He obviously has a problem with me steaming from before xmas or just has a stick up his ***. Should I confront him? I'm looking for a new job. They;re making me feel like a criminal over coffee and I deserve better. What's next with him? What should I do?

If it's a job you normally would want to keep with exception to this incident I would try to bury the hatchet with the chef. Tell him you think you got off on the wrong foot with him. I think he just gave you a taste of your own medicine. After all, YOU had an allergic reaction to his food and complained first to the manager. It's not like he prepared something wrong but I'm sure he felt you ratted him out. And it may have been for something he had no control over. It's always better to go directly to the source first to work out your differences instead of getting management involved. However, if you are seriously planning to leave soon, then just keep your nose clean and finish out your time.

Small people often try to make you feel small. Try to realize what is going on in the Chef's pea sized brain.

I'd just take it in stride. If other people had been taking coffee and now they can't then he has made a problem for himself.

Always remember that the things that people say and do to you are often much more of a reflectin on them!

Line up a new job then go after the boss. If you get his job great if not you have another job lined up. It does kind of sound like you work for an ***hole. You might try to talk it over with him but if it goes bad its you or him.

You are already doing it-- look for another gig. But remember, don't sell your integrity for the price of a cup of coffee.

He's got a stick and he's a schmuck. Calmly tell him and your supervisors that you "feel harassed" and would hate for it to go any further. In today's world, that alone should get results.

then find a new job and laugh at them.

Well, my advice is don't eat food from the hotel's kitchen and always be on the up and up so no matter what he witnesses, he'll never have anything to get you on.
