He didn't blatantly call them dumb. It was a stupid remark though. From what I recall he said something like "all of the young people that can't afford to go to college get shipped off to Iraq". This remark has the connotation that the troops are uneducated. That is most certainly not the case. However, I think his remark was taken a bit out of context and the conservatives jumped on it because they were looking for any way necessary to fire back at the democrats. The bigger issue here is that the troops should never have been sent there in the first place. The Bush administration flat out lied about WMD's in Iraq. This is a fact, not an opinion. There was no uranium transaction between Niger and Iraq. Again this is a fact not an assumption or opinion.

Wow, Bush makes tons of blunders and nobody bats an eye (even accidentally giving a speech where he kept saying "Iran" instead of Iraq and catches himself partway through in embarrassment - freudian slip?) yet Kerry makes one stumble and verbal blunder and everyone jumps on him like he hates the troops. Go figure.

Old, old, old news. Plus, Kerry DID NOT call the troops dumb. You have to be dumb to think that.

Kerry needs to keep his mouth shut. He does not represent the beliefs of Democrats.

I agree with you. I would never support anyone who looks like Herman Munster anyway.
