His life really is full of interesting facts and trivia, from his refusal to appear before the House UnAmerican Activities Committee to the virtual end of his career following a paternity suit (he lost, although it was later shown he couldn't have been the father) to the theft of his corpse (which was recovered after about three months, and re-interred, but this time in cement).

He has been living in Switzerland in a house near the lake of Geneva. This House still belongs to the Chaplin Family.

Charlie Chaplin was given a life time achievement award oscar for his body of work. He was very old when he received it...he had been black balled for years because of rumors of ties to the nazi party. These rumors were unsubstantiated...he actually made fun of Adolf Hitler in one short movie.
Charlie grew up very poor and amassed a huge fortune.
