Fire Emblem is not a real-time strategy, nor is it anything like Zelda. It is a turn-based tactical game with lots of RPG-esque features that requires a lot of thinking and can be great fun. Think of it almost like Chess, but with more freedom and more swords :P. Fire Emblem games tend to have great stories and SPECTACULAR replay value. I myself have played the first Fire Emblem over 12 times :P. I would definitely agree with the statement that it is similar to Advance Wars.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn is a direct sequel to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, which released for the Gamecube. Path of Radiance tells the tale of mercenary son Ike, starting as a weak fighter training to become strong, eventually losing his father to the mysterious Black Knight, and ends up fighting against the Mad King Ashnard and leading to the events of Radiant Dawn. Radiant Dawn occurs two years later, in the once powerful kingdom of Daein, which Ashnard ruled before he was killed. The country is suffering under the rule of the Begnion empire. Daein was ceded to them by the Crimea, the country Ike originally served when he fought Daein. The game switches between two different sets of main characters, Micaiah the maiden of miracles, and Sothe, from the first game, who both are hoping to revive the Daein empire using Micaiah's power to sense impeding danger, and Sothe's strength. The game also focuses on the Greil Mercenaries, meaning, of course, Ike and his crew. He's once again siding with Crimea, after learning of the revival of Daein under the command of Ashnard's son, Pelleas. The two armies collide, and it's Beorc (humans), agains Laguz (humans who can turn into birds, beasts, and dragons, but dragons are an exception since Goldoa is strictly neutral, and that point adds into the story line a little later in the game). Obviously, the game is an RTS, meaning you have to strategically move your players across the map, defeat enemy units, and keep your own alive, since if your units die, they're gone for good. I've been playing the game for some time since it released, and i liked both games alot. It's a little unfair that one group, Ike's in particular, ends up getting UBER strong, while Micaiah's group ends up to be garbage compared to Ike's group. The story would be lost if you didn't play Path of Radiance, so if you haven't played it yet, i highly recommend you play it, since you can also use save data from Path of Radiance to make some characters in Radiant Dawn stronger. Overall, i would probably give the game a 3.5 out of 5, just because the game is easy when you're playing as the Greil Mercenaries, but tougher when you play as Micaiah's group. I recommend the game if you like strategy.

It is more a strategy game then anything else. So if you suck at any Zelda games than this is not for you however, if you did play a couple of Zelda games and like them than this game is for you
