dexters are one of the perfect "mini" cattle you can have....they are a multi purpose breed...good for draft work, beef and milking...but if you like that shaggy look...the Highland cattle from scotland are small and cute.

There are a few different breeds of miniature cattle. In the last couple of years they have taken the Scottish Highlander which I used to raise and have repeatedly bred the smallest to the smallest and now have a miniature breed of them as well. They are pretty cute as miniatures. As beef cows I changed to Angus. The Highlanders don't carcass well. Before my disability I was an A.I. tech and worked with many breeds of cattle.

There is a breed called the zebu, which resembles a miniature Brahma. Very pretty, about the size of a Shetland.

Here: http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/cattle/ (go down to SHETLAND breed in the sidebar).

This is cool website - check it out for all kinds of cattle breed descriptions & photos. I lived near a farm that had Belted Galloways - we always called them 'Oreo cows' when we passed. One day we talked to the lady that owned them - she said they are so sweet & follow you around wanting to be scratched & rubbed, like big dogs!
