As many previous answers said, Al Franken has gone on many USO tours to Afghanistan and Iraq and other military bases in the Middle East.
Al Franken also worked tirelessly to raise money to provide helmet liners for the troops. Helmet liners cut down on brain injuries. He also has been outspoken in calling for giving them body armor and humvees that are shielded.
Al Franken is leaving his Air America job and his lucrative book writing career to run for Paul Wellstone's senate seat. Al was a good friend, a constant campaigner and fundraiser for Paul in past elections and decided to run when Paul was killed in an airplane crash.

Tries to expose what is really going on so that they can come home. What has Dubya done for the troops? Oh, I forgot, said "Mission Accomplished", then kept them there for 3 years and counting, let them pay for body armor out of their own pocket, and gotten 3000 killed.

How about going to Iraq with the USO show a few times? Have you ever listened to his show? He was almost in tears yesterday while talking about our troops.

His liberal hate radio network going bankrupt has done more to help the troops than we can measure. Just proves that the "modern liberal" is a minority because America doesn't want to listen to his anti-American crap. All while Conservative talk radio flourishes. Franken is only running for the Senate because as a comedian he's washed up. I hope Dennis Miller runs against him.
