Children will always tell the truth unless they are afraid to. The long range effect on a child varies. Depending on what they saw or heard. Don't force a child to testify if it is too painful. You may need to take the child for counciling. Also reinforce the fact that they have not done anything wrong and that it wasn't their fault.

This can not be answered, there are too many variables involved. First of all you give no evidence of what the crime was. The child may be from an abusive family, a stable family if you are talking about your own self that you witnessed something and you are having symptoms but want to stay anonymous then only you know and if you want some positive feedback on this you will have to be more specific.

...this depends on various professional management techniques.

and although i can agree that a child will always speak the truth of what it may have seen or heard or experienced.

it is also true that a child can only relate in a language it will not have expertise on. and it also must relate according to what is experienced or is emotionally felt and provided by the young mind of the child.

an adversarial courtroom and its appendaged is no place for children. since the conditions which these places thrive within is the very threat to a childs health and development.

courtrooms (and professioal appendages) which manipulate children from behind a veil of respectability and responsibility will become under the observations of the truth speaking.

**also**...it is a very valueable discussion to enter into .. this shaping of trial according to testimonie(s) of a child(ren). much responsibility. the sordid prospects or details of how to elicit from the innocent what is valueable and consciously assisted by an other(s) whom (re)create environs to meet probabilitie(s)/plausibilitie(s). ......which is how a secret and adversarial environment makes (un)likely.
