It depends. I haven't seen Sailor Moon myself, but I've heard many things about it from people who have, and the general consensus that while the original Japanese show is a fine example of anime, or at least average, the American version was ruined by the company that brought it over to the US, DiC. Whole scenes were left out of the show, others were chopped up and inserted into different episodes, storylines with "adult content" were softened and changed, and almost any reference to anything Japanese was removed from the show via the dubbing process (for example, all of the Sailor Senshi had Japanese names in the original anime but were changed to Western names once the show aired in the US.) And that is why a lot of people, perhaps justifiably, don't like Sailor Moon.

I thought Sailor Moon wa sa great anime, just not the dubbed version of it. There were just too many changes to deal with, changing characters genders, name changes, and lets not forget changing Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune from being lovers to cousins. That was the most beautiful relationship in an anime series, and it was ruined.
Not to mention removing any reference from the show that the show was even Japanese. Like with the newspapers and signs, changing the kana to scribbles, or just erasing it completely. Granted they did try to keep the original references in, like in Sailor Moon SuperS, but in the one episode I saw where they actually tried, they made it sound like Motoki (Andrew) had cheated on Reika (Rita) by meeting someone at a dance (or something like that.) even though the dance was a reference to where Motoki and Reika met.

Sailor Moon's my fav anime out of all of the anime I've seen, even though it's very old. It's even better than Tokyo Mew Mew which is just a spin-off from Sailor Moon.
I watch the chinese and japanese version of Sailor Moon. I don't watch the american one on cartoonetwork, but letting it off air is a stupid idea.

As a manily guy of manilness, I could say I basically desire it is not completed via DIC, the precursor to 4Kids. via fact the unique had lesbians. And Sailor Moon grew to become right into a severe Tier character. Yeah, I study Wikipedia.
