They have done a nice job during the off season. Improved? Yes! Even though they are in the toughest division in baseball I still think they can make the playoffs. The Yankees are the best team in baseball and should win the division. The Blue Jays will finish in front of the Red Sox and in second place. If they can win 90 or more games, and I think they will, they should make the playoffs. As we know once you make the playoffs anything can happened.

each group has the flair to advance, yet distinctive it is not in all probability. Of the communities on the checklist, the Diamondbacks have the main suitable risk. The NL West a susceptible branch and there is no longer plenty that separates the main suitable from the worst. Shoot, the 1st place Padres have lost 10 in a row. With a pair of clever strikes the D-backs ought to be interior the direction of the the NL West pennant race next year. The Pirates and Nationals have been completely caught in rebuilding years for the previous quite a few years, and jointly as the Nationals regarded like they might start to climb with Stasburg, he's harm and could omit ALL of next year. The Indians have been harm this year, yet they have no actual ACE and play interior the comparable branch because of the fact the the main truly sound group in baseball, the Minnesota Twins... and Chicago and Detroit are not rather slouches the two. Cleveland will choose distinctive success to get previous those 3 communities, which isn't in all probability. The Mariners have imploded by means of the years. they have no offense and Ichiro, jointly as nonetheless good is previous his top by utilizing now. And jointly as Felix Hernandez is an stunning starter, without run help, he's no longer triumphing all that plenty, and without different starters to rather help him, even whilst he wins it is not that plenty. Mariners have too many holes to fill to circulate from final to first, no longer against Texas and the Angels. And the Orioles are caught in Baseball's maximum suitable branch. between the Yankees, Rays, and pink Sox, you have 3 communities which could make legitiamate arguments why they'll win one hundred video games each and each season. And for the main section the AL wild card group has the two been Boston or massive apple. Showalter's grew to become them around, yet i do no longer look them able to do sufficient to challange the main suitable 3 communities in all baseball.

Toronto is unfortunate to be in the AL East. The BoSox and Yanks will be finishing in the top two spots in some order, but the Blue Jays can be fairly sure of the third spot at this point. Baltimore and Tampa Bay have done little this offseason to assure anyone of a positive change in record.
What Toronto has going for them: Halladay is the second best pitcher in baseball (Santana is 1st, no arguments). B.J. Ryan appears to be a top tier closer. Vernon Wells is one of the best CFs in the game. Signing Frank Thomas was the only solid improvement the Jays made this offseason, but it just won't be enough.

The Blue Jays have a solid line-up, but their success this season hinges on two players, Thomas and Burnett. If Thomas can come close to producing like he did last year they will score as many runs as any team other than the Yankees. And they need Burnett to try to match the value of the ridiculously high contract he was given last year. Ten and eight is not going to cut it, not for the 12 million he will make this year. I don't know if either of these are possible, but if it happens I could see them in the thick of a crowded wild card race.

The Jays are pretty solid. Ryan is undoubtedly a very overlooked closer, fairly solid rotation anchored by Halladay, and a decent lineup, something you guys lacked for years. But unfortunately, The Sox and Yanks still own that division. But yea, the Jays can definitely contend, but to make the playoffs in the AL East is gonna be rough.

They didn't improve at all. The added another bat in Thomas and gave Wells a ridiculous pay raise.
They will score some runs and could finish 2nd or 3rd place tops in the division.
They will contend if Boston or New York has a bad run of key injuries.

No question that they can contend, they may even take the division. The Yankees have goten worse and the Sox are stagnant. The Blue Jays have made solid moves and some young overlooked players will be coming into their own this year.

Blue Jays have zero chance of competing, I see the lowly Tampa Bay Tarpoons beating them out for fourth place and the Blue Jays will be at the cellar of the AL East.

Unfortunately, they are in what is traditionally the toughest division in baseball. They will contend and maybe finish second, but I seriously doubt they can take the division.
