The news isn't good I'm afraid. Your CMOS battery dying means that all your BIOS settings were lost and have reset to standard.

You say your PS/2 port never worked this is also bad news. Older PC's worked by standard from PS/2 keyboards but there was often an option called enable USB keyboard support, this would have enabled you to use a USB keyboard to access the BIOS etc but would have been reset when the battery died.

So in short you need a PS/2 keyboard to enable USB support but your PS/2 port does not work.

The good news is that probably none of your data is lost and you can copy the information to another PC by removing the hard drive and installing it in another PC.

Good luck.

That normally means configuration changes have been made. I would try to go ahead and go into the BIOS, by hitting delete. Then load the BIOS setup defaults, which is likely to be f5, but check with your BIOS.
When you are in the BIOS, dont change a bunch of settings, but do make sure of the boot order, which should be 1. CDrom 2 hard drive. While you are in the BIOS, make sure your CDrom and hard drive are detected. If your hard drive is undetected, then you must solve that problem in order to be able to boot, unless you boot from the CDrom.

abuk_fs1 is correct, but Also what connects your controls (joystick, buttons) to your computer? (I-pac?) and why are you so sure the ps2 port is not working? Check the rest of the wiring from your power supply to the mobo and drives (is your hard drive running? because depending on your front end for Mame it may be its been told to find a drive that it don't see)

Anyhoo here is a link to a forum to help further in your dealing with your arcade dilemmas: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/board,1.0.html
