We have more crime because there is no real policing any more and that is coupled with a huge change in the family, demographics and organised crime that it has bought with it. Also don't forget that there's the issue of the terrorist threat in London - so many resources have been poured into protecting the government that communities have been neglected. I can see areas as they were in the 80s under the Thatcher government - run down, no mans land and out of control.

All areas now have what they call a 'safer neighbourhood team' - this consists of around 6 'community support officers'. They are not policemen, they cannot arrest or stop and search - they have to call the real police if they need to make an arrest - they have no powers at all. Its all a big PR stunt by Labour to give the impression we have Police on the streets.

Don't call the Police station if you want them to come out to an incident - the stations now only log calls and ask you to go in - they are purely administrative. If you need a Police response you have to call 999 and even then they will often not attend. That is why crime is increasing because criminals know they have such a small chance of being caught.

Criminals coming in from other countries and selling guns and drugs. Those addicted to drugs turning to crime to pay for their next 'fix' and our police being bogged down with form after form that they have to fill in every time they arrest someone. Paperwork that takes them off the streets and bogs down their system stopping them doing the job they want to do - police the country.
Our police, having had enough, are leaving the force in droves. They find, arrest and charge the criminal, then what happens... the courts let them go.

Our police just can't cope anymore - The government are tying their hands (or should I say.. putting the cuffs on em).

Instead of the government putting civilians into silly uniforms and letting them parade around the streets as police helpers - SPEND THE MONEY ON MORE POLICE. COME ON BLAIR it's about time you pulled your finger out.

The English are very different. So proper and trim.
They know how to use a knife and a fork but there food is rubbish
They are noted for the Maiga Char ta but lack common sense
Too many immigrants mucking up the place?
You have to many people on the Dole? duh
Your prince Chuck is an idiot
Your Queen should by pas her son and abdicate the crown/throne and dissolve the monarchy...the country can't afford as this is old fashion and the Royal are all rich anyway.
Upgrade your police and educate the young people
Put some teeth in the Law and prosecute the criminals to the max

Because our current government is not being led from the top regarding problems at home. Most of the time Blair is travelling the world - for what purpose we are not always sure and the same for Brown meeting the Pope, and visiting India etc.. Why do they not stop at home and work on the many problems their action ,or, lack of action has caused. Probably will not get so much expenses at home !

The police have tooo much paperwork to do if/when they arrest someone, also political correctness means they cannot just stop and search anyone of an ethnic variation, because "prejudice" is the first word shouted at them...
Sadly, it is the black on black crime which seems to be getting so bad, they carry guns and seem to be not afraid to use them, it is getting to the point where all our policemen will also have to carry guns - in effect become like NY was before the zero tolerance came in..
Let's hope we go for zero tolerance sometime soon!

I would agree with 'corky' if he had said the police are NOT allowed to do their job. If you are a politician like Anthony Bliar driving around in an armoured car with half the Metropolitan Police looking after you and your family you don't care about ordinary people anyway.

crime is increasing everywhere...from my stand point it comes from a giant chasm being created between the rich and the poor, and the fact that the middle class is dissappearing...

also it comes from a sense that the world is in such dissarray and on the boarder of chaos...

Apparently London has gone right down hill. In my opinion its because its full of illegal immigrants, the increase in gun culture. I think the government is making everyone poor also. its just crap.

It is probably not PC to say so but have you ever noticed that violent crime involving guns, knives etc seems to rise wherever you have large black populations?
Not just in UK either?
