so i'm in the back of the index and looked up homosexuality (so ya know they give you the page # to find info on them) so when i reached the page and read about homosexuality the only thing they had to say about homosexuality was that it accounts for a numerous accounts of std cases especially amoung drug users ,men especially among the african american group.THATS ALL THEY SAID ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE BOOK!!!!! NOTHING ELSE ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY! THE END!
what are your views?

Obviously it's an ignorant narrow minded view. But what do you expect when the health classes at high schools are funded by the Bush administration. You're lucky you have a class period because when he first got in office he cut the health budget and only wanted health class to cover abstinence. Not STD prevention, not birth control, not healthy expression of sex, nothing except for waiting until you get married.
Can you believe that? Do you think Laura Bush is the only chick he's screwed? Do you think he was a virgin til he was married? Of course not. So when you get an administration like this into office, that's funding your programs that's what you get. These books are upholding the institution man, I'm suprised it didn't say homosexuality was a mental disease like older books used to say.

I'm all about teaching ABOUT religion in schools, not teaching religion per se. Spiritual as defined by google search says: (of a person) Not concerned with material values or pursuits. I think that definition is okay to teach to kids at school. Growing as a person and looking inward instead of outward for answers can be defined as spiritual and I think that is an essential part of becoming a well-rounded, critical thinking human being.

The book did not elaborate on the subject quite enough. The answer to your question of being right or wrong is:
Not enough information is not wrong, it does not fulfil your needs for information. You could write your complaint and submit it to the publisher of the textbook. You may get an answer to your question. If you really wish to have more info, go to the library and look up the subject there. I'm sure you will find an abundance of information.

Really that's it? You'd think a health book would have more information, and accurate info at that. Pretty low standards for a school district to not cover all of the sexual orientations in a book for Health class. Man, I remember ours, all ours told was basically abstinence, that was it. Very little on sex itself and nothing on homo/bisexuality.
And if a troll by the handle Princess Doris swings by, I just wanted to let her know her closet door swung open again. (We know you're in there, we can see you! Come out!)

Educators don't know how to handle the issue in schools. Parents don't want it taught to their children. This is probably why most kids that may be homosexual grow up being inhibited and afraid to admit it . It is NOT an acceptable practice here in the U.S.

Maybe it's time someone more openminded rewrote the book? What on earth are they teaching you guys? And then they expect to end racism? How? When they don't explain the plain facts as they are? How can they expect teens to grow up to become responsible adults and good people when they teach such stuff to you I really can't understand! Good luck!

Obviously a school in the bible belt that isn't allowed to actually tackle real life issues.
As for uptowngirl - AIDS is growing faster in the heterosexual community than the gay community, so to use that argument simply shows complete ignorance of what is going on in the world. --- And that's coming from a 100% straight

well the book is dealing with health, did it say talk about something other than health in the heterosexual part? if not you don't really have a point.

It's not wrong, it's the truth.
STD's ESPECIALLY AIDS is extremely widespread among homosexuals today.
It's a health book, remember that.

well, you should have already known what the word means and the book doesn't really have to explain the whole damn thing to you.
