For example, Werewolves of London is probably the most popular Warren Zevon song. It is also probably his worst....I love his music, but when I'm talking about him to someone or I bring it up they are like "Oh yeah, he sung Werewolves of London didn't he?".

I think this is true in a lot of cases...

I think our tastes are influenced by the amount of air time a song gets. Have you ever heard a song on the radio for the first time, and thought......that song sucked. But a week later you are singing along with it? I think we get brainwashed into liking them.

Oh, yeah, Pink Floyd... didn't they write that album A Momentary Lapse of Reason?

I think that it's because anything bad is better remembered than anything good. It's natural instinct. When someone opens a door for you, you say thank you and let your day go by. When that person trips you, though, you won't forget it for a while.

It's fun for humans to make fun of other humans. Cruel, yes, but also true. If we remember something that was good, well, we'll do it constantly. However, if we remember something that's bad, we try to warn other people about it subtlety.

I feel like Freud. I need to listen to my music.

I think the answer lies in your own musical preferences. What I mean by that is, I suspect that you like artists whose music is cutting edge, breaks with tradition, and is not as linear as pop music such as the case with Warren Zevon (RIP). All music artists mess up from time to time and produce something that is more in sync with traditional pop music. These "mess-ups" then resonate with the public at large and become hits.

i like Warren! you're good. Werewolves is a novelty hit with a great piano hook and a howl, yet that is it. extra the place that got here from: Firefall - you are the lady Paul Davis - 'sixty 5 Love Affair Dan Fogelberg - Longer (actual a first rate love music yet so out of character from his rockin' days)

Because commercial radio overplays everything...even the stuff that really sucks!!! There are so many more artist out there that deserve radio play and just don't get it. People should try listening to Local music...Half the time it's better then anything on the radio!!

The worst song is well known because people talk about how bad it is and how it stinks so then the song gets spread around as worst song ever.

It was a catchy song.
Alot of artist only get noticed when they do something that will appeal to a larger audience. Then they can go back to being themselves, and follow their true talent

I have no idea...probably because they are so catchy.Like i hate Justin Timberlake's music and "Sexy back" but they are so popular. Sexy back is really catchy. Same w/ Fergalicious by Fergie.

like people associate hotel California to the eagles or brown sugar to the stones, they may not be their worst tunes but they are definitely not their best
