My Dad.
He's just retired from the fire brigade.
About 8 years ago, he saved the lives of 2 children aged 4 and 6 and doing so endangered his own.
He ended up with severe burns on his hands and arms when the roof caved in on top of him and was in hospital for weeks.
He received awards for his bravery.
He'll always be a hero in the eyes of the family of the children he rescued and always to me too!!!

The Doctor (Who).
Ever since I was a child I have loved to see Doctor Who and I learnt a lot from that show.
The Doctor : "If someone who knew the future, pointed out a child to you and told you that that child would grow up totally evil, to be a ruthless dictator who would destroy millions of lives... could you then kill that child?"
Sarah Jane Smith : "We're talking about the Daleks. The most evil creatures ever invented. You must destroy them. You must complete your mission for the Time Lords!"
The Doctor : "Do I have the right? Simply touch one wire against the other and that's it. The Daleks cease to exist. Hundreds of millions of people, thousands of generations can live without fear... in peace, and never even know the word "Dalek"."
Sarah Jane Smith : "Then why wait? If it was a disease or some sort of bacteria you were destroying, you wouldn't hesitate."
The Doctor : "But if I kill. Wipe out a whole intelligent life form, then I become like them. I'd be no better than the Daleks."
That is why The Doctor is my hero.

Da Vinci - YEARS ahead of his time, a true visionary (Tanks, bikes, helicopter, parachute, robots, calculator, telescope, hand-glider - all found in his note books), a wicked sense of humour & he could draw & paint well too!
Sir R Fiennes - Ex-SAS, Greatest living explorer, no nonsense attitude (had frostbitten fingers that were about to drop off - could not wait to go to the Drs so went down to the garden shed & hacked them of with a power saw), 7 marathons in 7 days (JUST AFTER A TRIPLE HEART BY-PASS OP).

GOD for obvious reasons. For one, I wonder at the wonder of the universe and all the galaxies as well as what God has done for us on Planet Earth.
