I would and always do. I use a non-yellowing polyurethane to protect the paint or stain finish and it makes them easier to clean. Paint can chip and both paint or stain can wear down with use over time, the sealant helps protect the wood and finish so that doesn't happen.

Edited: I thought you said do I have to prime them BEFORE I paint them. Yes. If you don't, the paint will just peal off. If you're painting them a light color, use white. If you're going dark, tint the primer. You can buy a tube of tint at the store - just mix it in.

As to sealer afterwards? You shouldn't need a sealer if you use a gloss paint.

No, you do not need to seal your cabinets after painting them. I do hope you used gloss or semi-gloss paint. The glossier they are the easier they are to keep clean.

Not if you did it right. Sanded or primed and then painted with 2 coats.

The shine makes the difference. Gloss enamel wears well, satin, or flat doesn't.
