It's something about nature, where females in every species get to fight for getting the male's attention, now, us, being intelligent can't avoid the fact that we are animals and still, even as we are not fighting for the male's attention, we need to probe ourselves and the others that we are superior. THen we are not as loyal to each other as men are, and we tend to attack other females.

First of all, this does not apply to ALL females, but females with certain combinations of characteristics.

When a female feels threatened or intimidated by another female and are not aware or their own deeper thoughts and feelings as to why they feel this way, they tend to lash out. If they were more self aware, then they would know it is due to deep seated insecurity and feelings of low self worth. Catty behaviour is typical in women with low self esteem coupled with low emotional intelligence. They are easily intimidated and become very defensive as a result.

Just remember, their behaviour is as a result of their own personal issues and has nothing to do with you, so don't let it bring you down.

HTH : )

Think about it : you don't find women dentists or chartered accountants or doctors, etc., who have behaved this way. Why might that be? You also don't find older women behaving so childishly. So, which women don't demonstrate this behavior?

1. The ones who are older (more mature)
2. The ones who are otherwise engaged (philanthropy, career, travel...whatever else)

The 'catty' women to whom you refer are young and usually stuck in pretty crappy jobs. These are the ones who want to breed the most and feel driven to compete with eachother for 'choice' genetic material in a mate. It's how Evolutionary Psychology looks at it, and it makes perfect sense when put in this context.

EDIT:
"LOST HERO" is absolutely correct when she observes that "females with certain combinations of characteristics" and includes low self-esteem as being a factor pre-disposing a woman to this behavior. The higher the socio-economic status the woman has the LESS likely she is to suffer from low self-esteem. She is also likely to be somewhat older because it took time to get where she got to in the first place: it required a journey. That's why you will never observe your doctor, chartered accountant, etc. behaving 'cattily' - they feel secure in their own skin and are not easily intimidated or threatened. In any event, they're far too BUSY using their brains for more important things than thinking of ways to sabotage the 'girl' who slaves away in the cubicle down the hall!

No, the question is 'why are SOME women catty towards each other'. Not all women are. It is simply competition. Men's version of competition is not often as verbally overt, but it is still present. People compete with each other. It's our nature.

I am going with the "low self-esteem" theory. Also you will find that when you have a group with minor education, you will get the cattiness effect. A horrible fact that is very obvious.

Low self esteem. Usually, women hate on the women they most want to be like. I was like that until I realized that there was no point in that. Also, women are fearful of being blunt with each other and anyone for that matter for fear of being considered overly aggressive or a witch. As small girls, we are trained to shut up, be nice, and pretty and someday a rich dude on a white horse will take care of us in all our fairy tales "Sleeping Beauty", "Snow White" "Cinderella" etc., Then when we are teens all we hear is "be a strong, independent woman" Those are mixed signals and maybe that causes a lot of issues and confusion among us.

all of us neglect our history, in time. once you communicate approximately females calling eachother names, do you mean in a friendly or catty way? Catty, nicely this is in simple terms yet another human shortcoming and men do it as nicely. friendly, i've got faith that to be a physically powerful sign. To me, it ability that we are are in a position to upward thrust above a stupid notice. As for the human beings turning on feminists, i do no longer think they have been that nicely-known interior the 1st place lol. It takes extremists to get the ball rolling on something yet as quickly because it is began, those extremists are not mandatory anymore. Their persisted presence will preclude, no longer help, via overbalancing the situation...then you definately're decrease back the place you began, in basic terms on the different end.

Not all of them are. But for those who are, I think it stems from insecurity. These women will constantly compare themselves with other women and moan and *****.

The solution is to be happy with who you are and embrace your woman hood.

Learn to pay compliments to other women which is something I have practised for years and I know it goes against the grain. Even then you will find that they are women who find it hard to accept a compliment from another woman.

It all boils down to how a woman feels about herself.

Because, we can't be number 2. Oh and..Let's all embrace our womanhood...STOP THAT ****! You don't see men walking around complaining and saying crap like that. Woman love to complain and if they can't have it their way, they'll make it their way. Seriously though...womanhood? All that's different between man and women is our body. Deal with it. Oh but we go through child birth, we are stronger, men should respect us more...yea ok, that's the biggest suckiest reason ever to be thought up to get to the number 1 spot in the world. Women just can't stand being number 2.
