Assuming that you mean nearest 100 not 100th 653 would be rounded to 700. Below 650 you would round down to 600 and above 650 you would round up to 700

If you have a decimal number like 0.653 , round to the nearest 100th by looking at the 2nd digit after the decimal ( 5 is in the 100th place). Now look at the number that comes after it ( in this case is 3 which is in the 1000th place). If the number in the 1000th place is 0-4 , then the number in the 100th place ( 5) stays the same. But if the number in the 1000th place is 5-9, the number in the 100th place gets rounded up by 1 and every number after that becomes 0. So, your number 0.653 becomes
0.65 . Confused, ask your math teacher

If you're rounding to the nearest hundreth, 653 would be 700. You would round just like you would anything else.

The hundredth place is the second one after the decimal point - you round to 0.65 from .653, the number listed in your question.

you actually round to 700. If it is _50 or above round up to the next one hundred. If it is _49 or below round to the previous hundred.

650 because it is closer. For example the number 348 you can say it is 350 or 122 you say 120, but it if you have 123 you say 125 closer to it :)
