What do the lyrics of this song mean to you?
To me it means that we should look at the world through the eyes of a child!

Your right!! Children are taught bigotry, racism and hate. I don't believe these qualities come naturally to a child and it's pretty cool to watch them play together peacefully.

to me it means that there are both good and bad times in life and so the world might seem black at times and white at the other times..
also by "A child is black, A child is white together they grow to see the light, What a beautiful sight?" i infer that nature gives equal chance to everybody, without differentiating between blacks and white and what a beautiful world it would be without any (colour) differences..!!

Reminds me of Jr. High (middle school to those under 30)..it was on the radio then. I'm from Alabama and there was some race tensions back then, the black schools and white schools were merging ...but you know us black kids and white kids did grow to see the light..we get along pretty good down here these days

Racism disappear as you grow up. You then see the "light" and live in harmony and love with respect for all races- a matured understanding is achieved (knowing that we are not very different from each other)
You are only grown up when you see the "light"

I agree with that whole child thing but also, that two (what people seem to think are opposites) can come together to create a beautiful and meaningful thing.

i think it is saying that blacks and whites should get along and be better friends so our kids have better funner safer child hoods and it would be a beautiful sight to watch it happen.

it means that children have no hatred in them, they are oblivious to the world around them and simply accept it for what it is, this innocence is lost however in most adults
