Good question.
I really don't think is the fear of dying that keeps people from enjoying and savoring life to its fullest.
Unfortunately, I believe people limit themselves due to fears that all relate to living.
Security being the top of the list. How many times do they wish, dream about living somewhere else? Perhaps only a fantasy, but one that will never be attempted. How many times do they wish they were with somebody else? But never pursue the hope or dream. How many times do they complain about their job? But do nothing about changing it.
I believe that, while as miserable as any of the above situations are, most people would rather stay than risk failure. But in the end, with no attempt made, failure is guaranteed.
Security is a very nice thing. However is is also a box, a box with no windows or doors.
Most fears are grounded on the unknown. Most are baseless. Just think of some of the things you have done even though you were afraid. How did it turn out? Right...you learned that the fears you had were only that. Fears. Not reality.
No. The fear of dying is not what keeps us from living. The fear of risking, the fear of failure, the fear of embarrassment and the fear of rejection are what keep us from living.
If it weren't so tragic it would be comical.
I try to remember always, that my fears were always greater than the reality. And live my life accordingly.

Absolutely! You lose out on enjoying much in life when your fear of dying interferes with your ability to participate in activities such as traveling, swimming, hiking, camping, boating, etc.
