I think ghosts can be friendly, mean, or mischeivous, but I don't think they can harm you -- unless they've hidden your keys and you need to drive to the hospital.
Demons can hurt you though. Demons are not ghosts. Demons have never been people.

Ghosts can be friendly or unfriendly or mean. I think it depends on the kind of ghost you are working with. Most ghosts are not able to touch people, though. My friends mom had one grab her head in the middle of the night. A friend at work knew someone who babysat their kids once, and they saw three people walking around the house. The owners said they've always been there and they see them all the time, but they never bother anybody.

Human spirits are as a rule, weak. If by chance in life they gained power they can cause problems for people. Those kind of ghosts are rare. As humans we have our authority in the flesh. As a result if you ran across the average human spirit it would be able to close a door, move a piece of paper, tap you on the shoulder, etc. Minor stuff.

i have never experienced "harm" from a ghost. PERSONALLY, ghosts seem to play more "tricks" or play on people's pet-peeves (slam cabinet doors, rattle dishes, open doors, turn electronics and lights on and off... the list could go on forever!).
i have seen television shows that say ghosts CAN hurt you... but it's never been my experience. i think ghosts play "jokes" on people to get your attention. i tell my children to not be afraid of ghosts and to mention that a joke was "funny or not funny". afterall... if you were passed and you played jokes that no one noticed you (the ghost) wouldn't be having fun... jokes are only funny when noticed. i think SOME PEOPLE have more personal experience with "ghosts" because they acknowledge that they are there... it wouldn't be fun to play with someone who can't see, hear, feel, or sense that you are there...
in my opinion ghosts are EXACTLY like people, the only difference is that we have not yet shed our aging bodies... PHYSICAL ESSENCE.

My opinion... If by chance they were to be real...
Pretty much have to assume they are just people (or pets). And I bet they are still very much the people they used to be in life. Meaning most are probably nice enough. But those who were just jerks in life may very well still be jerks in death.

If they were friendly when they were alive they are probably still friendly when they are dead, and presumably the other way around.
