vleociraptors, ever alert spot the zulus aproach and split off into three groups one pair heads to the right and lies low in the long grass, the other pair heads to the left and hide by a cluster of rocks, the youngest raptor stands in the open feeding on the remains of a carcase apparently oblivious to the zulus.

the zulus spot the lone raptor and split up into single units and begin to encircle the raptor, three zulus head left into the long grass and pass behind the raptors, three zulus head left passing in front of the rocks and two make thier way straight ahead.

as the last of the zulus pass the pair in the grass one of the first group of raptor make its move,

Swift and silent the raptor decends on the luckless warrior, claws sharp and deep penetrate his spine and disembowel him from the rear, his death cry cut off before it is uttered as the raptors jaw clamps over his neck crushing his wind pipe, his companions continue on unawares, the raptors begin to follow.

seeing a commotion the two front zulus cut to the left and circle round to find the quivering corpse warily they begin to follow the grass trails spears at the ready.

as the three zulu sneak past the rocks, intent upon their prey, the two raptors leap out from behind the rocks,

landing full on the shoulders of its unfortunate vitim it's claws dig deep rending muscle from bone and snapping his clavicle on both sides the warriors arms and weapons suddenly usless, as the other two zulus turn to face the horror the raptor leaps from thier comrade and spills the entrails of the nearest warrior with a single slash of his razor claws.the third warrior manages to get his shield up and deflects the attack from the second raptor its claws tearing long slashes in the thick hide covering. warily he guards watchin each raptor simultaneously, his spear ready poised for the killing thrust that he must take, as soon as the opportunity arose waiting, set, alert and deadly unfortunatly he forgot about the youngest raptor that was now behind him...

seeing the raptor walk away in the direction of thier comrades the remaining warriorschange direction, as the commotion begins by the rocks all four set off running to aid thier collegues. the grass raptors pounce taking out the two slowest warriors , the remaning two, realising they are surrounded crouch back to back in the grass, shields up and wepons poised but its all over, the raptors close and as the first on leaps the warrior lifts his shield to repel the beast, the smallest raptor ducks underneath rending the flesh from his body in a crimson fountain, the final warrior surrounded and exposed dies swiftly in a blender of claws and teeth.

I think when the Zulus see the Velociraptors they would be paralysed with fear and would lose any advantage they had!

But lets assume they aren't. Even if the numbers are even (or) if the weight of each side is even, the Veloceraptors are going to dine on Zulu! The strength, speed and ferocity of this foe would easily be enough to get into close quarters and get some disemboweling done. I doubt that every spear would hit it's mark, even if it did I doubt that just one spear hit would be enough to put the dinosaur out of action; however, the velocoraptors could easily put a Zulu out of action and move onto the next victim!

Oh yeah, plus the stuff that veloceraptors can spit (or was that just Jurassic park)?

Let's assume from a previous face-off that winged monkeys can indeed drop rocks - I still maintain that the chances of actually hitting for damage are very slender. A better idea is that the Monkeys are carrying potion vials prepared by the Witch (she looked like a natural at Potions, Legilimancy, Evocations (fireballs) and Quidditch -really good on that broom, might have been a Firebolt. But I digress.) Pre-prepared potion vials with Sleeping tonics could be shaken over the dinosaurs at height with a splatter effect, or hurled directly like a Molotov Cocktail - breaking on impact the tonic inside would either coat one raptor or get several from splash effect. The dumb animals below - no matter how clever they are raptors are still dumb animals that operate mainly on instinct and cannot fly. Once the last velociraptor was asleep the flying monkeys would land and proceed to cut their throats or blind them - and we know they would be truly asleep because it is brought on by a magical effect. The monkeys are intelligent enough to follow verbal commands, self-aware enough to wear some clothing, and strong enough for two of them flying together to pick up one small twelve year old girl. (book, not movie.) They could easily carry quite a few potions, a spear, and a small dagger. The raptors on the other hand are land-based, do not understand magic, are not sentient (if that has its hallmark as being self-aware), and act on clever instinct. The smarter members may try to "play possum" when the first few pass out, but the monkeys would douse them anyway, and they would still be just as asleep when their throats get cut. Winner :Flying Monkeys (note that this scenario would have overcame the Cave Bears as well)

depends how many zulus you've got, there usual tactic was to have many men and come round like the horns of a bull, surrounding the enemy and killing them. I would say the Zulus because they are more intelligent, but numbers would be a major factor, if it was equal amounts of raptors and Zulus, I would say Raptors, intelligence can only take you so far!!

The Zulus certainly. That is because they have strategy and weapons. They can lure velociraptors in narrow places and can create traps that will do the job.

Velociraptors, because they are in a pack probably bigger than the Zulu's, have lotsa nice, pointy teeth, have built in weapons, and these big sharp claws on their feet that are very good for shredding....

Hmmm..good one. If the Zulus use the traditional fighting tactic of the bull buffalo (you know horns, head and loins) then they should be able to sucker the raptors in, surround them and then get totally slaughtered. Men just ain't any good when it's stabbing spears and cowhide shields against all that muscle power and claws. Of course it might be different with C (?) Company 2nd/24th.

There is no contest, the Zulus win, they kill the reptiles and eat them. The reason is; they have brains, spears, and are bloody hungry, as it is ages since they ate those lions.
