And then they flaunt it? They can't get married at all. It irritates me -big time.

They flaunt it especially with gay people around. It bothers me. It really does.

I'm not gay but it is very annoying, as if some people are "better" than others. We are all equal when everything is put together. Unfair to gays because they are thrilled for their own engagements and society doesn't care. They should be allowed to "flaunt" and get married too, legally just as anyone else.

I am gay and I don't get irritated I just think that everyone should have a right to marry who they choose. life wouldn't be interesting if we didn't have all these different cultures and stuff. America needs to be more open and take into fact that being different is ok and that it spices up life a bit more. Look at europe they are way more open about these issues to them it's not a big deal but here in the united states everything is a big deal. We need to lessen the laws of the land were too strict and scared about becoming an open society. everyone in my mind should be equal no matter what religion or sexuality you may have. I mean cmon now someone who is gay will not affect some straight couples life, it actual helps cut down the ever so rising population factors.

This is kind of annoying.. I get your point, but nonetheless, what bugs me is that some people are being overly sensitive. Gay couples can get engaged and married, just not yet everywhere in most countries.
Straight couples may have more rights than gay ones, but that really isn't (most of) their fault. I'm straight, and I am for gay marriage. But then, can I not get engaged with a man and be openly happy about it around my gay friends?
Honestly.. it's immature to focus so much on that. I can see it being annoying with a straight couple openly flaunts their engagement or marriage to gay people who can't just to be assholes, but I have never seen that happen and I really hope I never do.

I don't care. I flaunt my 12 year relationship to all the single straight people I know. Especially the divorced straights.

Gay people can get engaged too, and flaunt it.
Might not be able to "legally" be married...but they can have a ceremony.
I think anyone who wants to get married should be able to( of age of course...lol)

Are you trying to be funny by reversing the pov of the Gay Marriage issue? Doesn't work. I'm delighted whenever two people find each other and are prepared to commit.

EDIT: and for those who don't know me I don't care whether they are same sex or a hetero- couple that are preparing to commit.

It doesn't really bother me.

Love is a beautiful thing and SHOULD be celebrated.

The reality is that we CAN get married. We just can't have most states recognize it.

In time this will change as well.

My advice is, don't permit this irritate you. Hopefully someday we will, too. But until that day comes we must fight for our rights, talk about it, teach how intolerance makes world a worse place, etc.

None of my business if they get engaged. One or both of them will likely be cheating on the other within a year and divorced within five.

I'm thrilled to have a ring on my finger, why would I not be thrilled for anyone else? Its not so much about legal stuff as it is about starting a life with someone.
