Whats wrong with liberals?

I come from New York City... and people are PROUD to be liberals here (and have been pretty successful with it...)
What is up with the rest of the country....

there is nothing wrong with liberals. Thanks to Karl Rove and the likes, and smear and fear propaganda, Liberals have been given a bad name.

also, the radio and talk show folks have helped a lot. It used to be just Republicans and Democrats. That was boring. Republicans figured out that it is hard to make the word Conservative sound bad, so they started using the words "Liberals" and "Conservatives" all the time.

I believe it comes from poor education. Un-educated ppl usually are scared to death by the word change. Or different. And in America more than half of the population doesn't finish school, less than half have a passaport and of that number, less than 35% actually use it. Of course I don't mean to say that republicans are dumb. Just the opposite. They embrace this attitude- When you have nothing, at least you can say u are part of the greatest country in the world, even if u don't know right from left.

The problem with too many so-called "liberals" is that they are just as intolerant and bigoted as the right if not more. Liberal: open minded and tolerant to anyone who shares your view and if you have moral or religious standards then you're "intolerant" or a "prude" and if you're a sister and haven't been brainwashed by the Democrat slave masters then you're an "Uncle Tom".

There are plenty of us around. There is a very vocal and ignorant group of conservatives on this board that try to dominate conversations.They are "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." However, their party is starting to turn on their know-nothing president even as we speak.
