I don't care about the color or gender...I care about the experience to do the job.
Obama is a good guy but I feel he needs to have a little more experience in Government before he can even think about moving into The White House. He has only about 2 years in The Senate and to me, that is not enough experience.
Now as far as Hillary, she might have a little more experience than Obama but she is not White House material.

This comment is centered around the president being qualified as well as not having been elected president during economic decline or any other major events that would effect the economy either way.
Well, there would obviously be changes. There would not be many very large ones, but the two main options would seem to be:
1) Those who are extra-prejudice against minority groups (ex. KKK or Neo-Nazis) could begin a series of violent riots or change their ways (second one may be less likely), but their large impact would be relatively low.
3) Hillary Clinton could throw a temper-tantrum.
Overall, I think it would be a good thing for the country, a wake-up call to realize that we are in a new century where we can be open-minded about who gains executive authority over the nation. Black citizens may also be proud and, instead of economic collapse, be inspired to help this country even more. Even if an african-american were to simply run for president in one of the major parties (seeing as how, as opposed to popular belief, there have been african-americans running for president in the past), there would still be a turn-around in the nation and a diminished amount of prejudice against all of our overlooked minority groups of citizens, blacks, Muslims, women, Jews, Hispanics, East Asians, Middle-Easterns, just to name a few. Anyway, good question - I hope it happens sooner rather than later. RACE SHOULD NOT CHANGE THE WAY ANYONE VOTES. I think it should have happened centuries ago, but if the black candidate is less qualified than a white one, it may in the long run be a smarter idea to vote for the white one, and vice versa.

I don't see the nations economy changing one way or another because of Obama's race, nor do I see much benefit in having a black president.
I see very little gain in electing a man with a silver tongue who really says nothing, either! I.E. A man who declares that he will have the troops home by March 08, is totally and completely irresponsible in declaring such a thing, when the true enemy, Iran is so aggressive in it's attempt to gain more influence and control of the middle east. Is Obama a damned fool or does he believe the American voters are simply going to suck up everything and anything he has to say. For my part, this guy hasn't said anything that would make me believe he is capable of wiping his own @ss, let alone lead a country.
Now, that wasn't ugly or racist, was it?

How could you not expect any racist comments from a question like this..especially if you're concern is whether or not a black president would benefit or worsen the economy. the question itself shows nothing about the canidates politics...just that the person is black..you have no idea then..not even if the canidate was a democrat or republican...it would depend on the president's political moves, speeches, decisions and etc..to determine how the economy is changed for the better or worse..not on the color of the skin..this question itself is racist.

Assuming you are talking of Obama, why would the economy worse? It is known that the economy goes in cycles (ups and downs), sometimes aided slightly by what laws are passed.
Maybe each President should have a financial adviser like BG- someone successful- to help out. These people are politicians, not money magicians. he he
They know how to talk- it's what they are best at.
Personally, I don't care of ethnicity when voting, nor do I care about political party. I want the best man, out of the selections avail, to do the job (or woman, if applicable). Humans are not perfect. The thought that , for some reason, we idealize our presidents to be holy, perfect, non pot smoking, non-womanizing people is kind of ludicrous as well as unrealistic.

How can you ask for no racist comments, then ask a racist question? WHO CARES what race a candidate comes from?? The nation will benefit or suffer based upon the President's actions, regardless of race, sex, creed, or religion. The ONLY way to answer your question as framed is based upon racist stereotypes or to give examples.
Examples: Colin Powell would probably have helped the economy. Mike Tyson or OJ Simpson, not so much. Michael Jackson would turn America into the Wonderful World of Disney.

If you ask a racial question, you will get racist answers, especially in this forum!! I would hope that whether or not our nation would benefit or our economy would worsen would be based on the how specific individuals would fair in office and not what color their skin may be! I would hope that an election would be based on who the people feel are qualified and not on the color of their skin! When you make things about race, they become just that, about race!!

If we started electing our public officials based on ANYTHING other than their commitment and experience to serve all of the people, than it will be the end of this nation.
The only sane, moderate, experienced people I see in today's system that are black are Condi Rice and Colon Powell. They are good Patriots who have the sanity to lead this country.
Obama, of who you are basing this on, maybe a really nice guy, but he had not even 10 percent of the political or foreigner policy experience needed to be President.
So.... Don't vote for race or gender... Vote for who is best to lead us all, keep this country safe and prosperous.. and who doesn't have any private agenda or personal axe to grind.

It really depends on who it is. My own opinion is that Barack Obama is too liberal and inexperienced as a politican, regardless of race, to be president, but I think the same way about John Edwards.
Condelezza Rice, on the other hand, would do some wonderful things for the country because she appreciates how she got to where she got to, and really understands world affairs.

I think it's one of those two sided things, and nothing to do with race....he does not have a lot of experience, and the President is the big leagues, on the other hand he may not be into all the political games, because he does not have a lot of experience....I'll give him my vote
