I'd listen a bit, just to see whether what they were saying was any good. If it was, I'd take notes. Sooner or later, though, I'd stomp them. This is our world, and we don't want their kind taking it over, no matter how gifted they are philosophically. Even an unending roll of good ideas and deep insights can be a ruse, a cover, a distraction from the important fact of how rapidly the rats are defiling our pantries, knawing holes in our homes, attacking our children, and breeding more rats to do more of the same. Even the best of the rats deserves to die.

Would I...especially if they were blitzed out of their minds with booze. The only thing worse than two or three philosophical drunken rats is two of three straight talking rats, that would be enough to make you want you to desert a sinking ship.

The only rats I know to have a philisophical dialogue is so they can tell the world and his dog that they are like the way they are because they were mistreated as kids and that is what led them to a life of grime.

I'm just plain speaking with no frills so I wouldn't know Philisophical if it came and hit me in the mouth.

Oh you must mean the half a dozen rats or are they mice situated south of Hyde Park corner, under the floorboards of my poooossssh neighbour. If they haven't dissapeared by the time I've recognised them as rats, I would not stomp them, but I would probably scream and miss the bit about the meaning of life, completely.

I think I would record it onto a dvd and tell the world... the question is do we ask for the rat's permission or not before we make it public property? Do rats know how to sign copywrite agreements? Would we need to stomp them if they were unobliging?
I'd offer them a cup of tea and a chance to discuss their future fame with me as their manager.

As a buddhist, I must not harm another living being. Therefore, I could not stomp them. I may well put them away from myself, therefore eliminating the offence of their presence.

As for the philosophical conversation, I would much rather make a recording, so that I could listen to it, and share it with others.

It would depend on their school of thought. They might be nihilists, in which case stomping on them would prove them right. They might be existentilists who are testing whether or not you are free to stomp them. They might be interested in Descartes who believed animals do not feel pain, stomping on them would provide the empirical evidence they long for. Besides, rats might have philosophical conversations all the time, who's to know.

I would listen (sitting in the shadows) and then if they discussed a cure for a cancer or a way to guarantee world peace, I would stomp on them afterwards and take all the credit. Who would believe rats thought that up anyway?

It would depend upon the content of the dialogue, if for instance they were discussing the eventual demise/destruction of the human race through the use of Ratkind's Weapons of Mass Destruction - then of course Yes.
However, if for instance the dsialogue took on the form of a formula for world peace and I thought that Mankind may benefit from such musings - then no I would leave them to their devices safe in the knowledge that mankind was (of course) without equal.

Well, that depends on what they were philosophising about.

If it was a way to pull all troops out of Iraq & Afghanistan I'd sit quietly in the corner and let them sort it out.

If it was about feeding the world from the profits of the rich I'd applaud them.

If it was about Big Brother and whether Jade di have racist thoughts during her time inside I'd hit them with a very big baseball bat and tell nobody.

Actually I'd be interested to know what rat have to discuss, especially if it were a philosophical dialogue.
