I typically refill the HP cartridges with special ink and they work just fine. I can repeat this 4-5 times, but then refilling will not work. I tried to rinse of the print head with water and alcohol, but still no printing even though the cartridge is full.

Any advice?

4 or 5 times a cart is great, actually. after a while all cartridges will fail and you will need to buy new cartridges.

the technology in the 56 (and many many others) is built to fail after a while. this is how the manufacturer insures they will make money.

Almost all HP cartridge is for single use. The print head on the cartridge is design to be used once. If you refill your cartridges several times, and suddenly it wont work, its time for you to replace it with a new one. Preferably a new OEM (original) cartridge so that you can refill it 2 to 3 times without having a problem.

Yeah, buy another refilled cartridge. Try 123inkjets.com.
