I need some opinions on a backyard court...about 50'X35' What's a better option...asphalt or concrete...or is there another alternative?
Thanks for the thoughts in advance.

I would go with concrete just because it doesn't get as hot during the summer. If you live somewhere that gets cold in the winter be forewarned that concrete typically cracks with extreme temp changes. You can check on a hard rubber surface to make your court out of, I know of some YMCA's that have that surface and it is nice.

Concrete , it stays cooler longer , especially in the summer months. Asphalt gets very hot and you'd probably be very uncomfortable due to the heat and not even want to play basketball.

Concrete. Trust me, I've played on both and the concrete just gives you better traction for your feet and the ball. I don't know which would be cheaper, but all things being equal, concrete would be the way to go.

I'd go w/ concrete. I don't know how much it would costs, but the new stuff they use for outdoor tracks would be interesting. It's a little springy, and would be a little more forgiving during a fall or something than concrete.

I played ball all through school and concrete in the way to go. Asphalt has a tendence to have raised areas that will effect the way the ball handles. Heat causes asphalt to become soft and sticky and impossible to be out of carpeting. When it rains asphalt gets slick, first hand experience.

It might cost a little more, but concrete will stay solid during the hot summer months.
