Not a simple question. But my answer is I think it is not O.K.
It has however been with mankind since our early history, in all parts of the world.

What makes it not a simple question to me is what constitutes slavery. Were the mill workers at the beginning of the revolution slaves in effect? The miners? The sweat shops run even now? I could go on, but let me ask the question--at what point
does government interference in our lives constitute a type of slavery?

That's the proper answer, for any civilization that exists, today, or on the past. Now, since it's not PC to say these sort of things, I'll give you my personal beliefs, too:

Will the US ever go back to allowing slavery as it existed pre-Civil War? No.

Would I ever own a slave? No.

Slavery isnt okay, how can it be nobody has the right to ownership of another person. Although ther are still some countries where it still occurs they should be cut off from the rest of the world. India is one I can think of.

TV broadcasters do.

They are responsible for people being glued to boxes that pretend to give you something while they take away your life.

It's a shade more subtle than knocking people on the head and putting them in manacles but it amounts to the same thing.

I don't like the idea of slavery. I do like the idea of punishing people who committ crimes by making them do hard labor, and not giving them any perks, like televisions. Perhaps those criminals can do hard labor and learn a skill while they are at it.
