Ok first of all there has got to be food.If there's not, then the party will be little boring. Trust me I was in third grade not to long ago.For food a very inexpensive good idea would be to go to Walmart and buy some chips. You could also make little finger sandwiches. Then go to a local party store and see if you can make gift bags for the class.Since the classroom in so crowded ask the teacher if she could pass the food around. For activities here's what they can do. Puffy Heart What you'll need: Pink and white tissue paper, cut into 1” squares White craft glue Scissors Piece of card stock or construction paper Pencil with an eraser How to make it: 1.Cut out a heart shape from the construction paper or card stock. 2.Put white craft glue into the center of the heart, shaped like a heart. 3.Using the eraser end of a pencil, place the eraser into the center of a white tissue paper square. Twist the tissue paper square around the eraser and dot it onto the glue. Continue this process until entire middle of the heart is covered with white tissue paper. See photo. 4.Repeat the process from step #3 with pink tissue paper for the border of the heart. 5.Glue a hanger to the back if you like. Valentine's Pinata What you'll need: 1 brown paper grocery bag Tissue paper in red and pink 24" string or yarn Hole punch Stapler Newspaper or other lightweight filler Small trinkets and candies Scissors White craft glue How to make it: 1.Open the grocery bag and put treats and trinkets inside. Fill about ¼ full. 2.Fill remaining space with crumpled up newspaper. Leave a small amount of space at the top of the bag so it can be folded over and closed. 3.Fold top over and secure with staples. 4.Poke or punch a hole in the middle of the bag in the fold. Be sure it's low enough that the hole won't rip. 5.Cut long strips of tissue paper about 3" wide and as long as the tissue paper sheet is. Fringe the ends of the tissue paper by cutting slits about halfway up. 6.Starting at the bottom of the bag, glue the tissue paper onto the bag by the solid edge only, do not glue the fringe down. Repeat on other side of bag with same color. 7.Repeat these steps, working your way upward toward the top of the bag, alternating colors each time. We used light pink, pink and red for ours. 8.Thread string or yarn through hole at the top and tie a knot. 9.Gently lay the bag on its side. 10.Cut strips of tissue paper about 1" wide. Fold in half, then glue to the bottom of the bag at the half-way point. 11.Set aside to dry completely. 12.Hang by your string and hit with a waffle bat or rolled up newspaper until it breaks. P.S. tell them they can hit the Pinata at home.
