Fashion/makeup and what is in or out is really subjective. Some people can wear riskier colors/shades and outfits while others can't or wouldn't dare to. What's in for one person is not what's in to another.
With that being said, blue eye shadow is not an easy eye shadow to wear or pull off for most women. People see blue eye shadow and some find it laughable. Speak to a respectable makeup artist and they will tell you the same. And, just because there are a lot of different hues of the color, by lesser brands, as you mentioned, that does not mean that it is an in color. If you really want to check and see what's in then I suggest checking a makeup line that is more current and perceived as being more fashionable such as Bobbi Brown, MAC, NARS, Lancome, Laura Mercier and many others. L'Oreal is a fine cost efficient brand but even though they have celebrity spokespersons selling their brand that doesn't mean it's perceived, within the industry, as the gold standard.
Bottom line, if you like how it looks on you then wear away. I suggest going to a makeup artist and finding a shape and a way to apply blue eye shadow that is flattering for your coloring, complexion and eye shade. Good luck and enjoy!

Well first of all. it depends on the person not everyone looks good in blue. Also if u notice Loreal's blue color doesnt sell very well. and yes i am involved in beauty, im a beauty advisor and no one buys blue from what ive seen. Just because someone has different taste in eyeshadow color doesnt make any sence to say there not smart. we all have different taste.

nicely you stated your eyes are metallic blue. more than a number of situations blue eye shadow seems sturdy with a gentle blue. in case you position on barley any blue eye shadow only the position it seems gentle it's going to make you look particularly and make your eyes pop. in case you dont imagine that seems sturdy adequate for you blend barley any eco-friendly or silver with it. believe me it is going to look outstanding on you

it is defintely the technique that makes it good or not but cosmetic companies make many many colors because someone out there will buy them! different colors look good on different people depending on eye color, skin tone, hair color etc. so it's not that blue is in or not in it's just that many people are not trained in how to apply thier make up so they are afraid to wear such a bold color.

I agree with your statement that it's the technique and not the shade that is wrong.
