We live in a trailer and this morning the pipes were frozen any ideas how to thaw them out? i have already put tin foil over the vents in an attempt to get the pipes thawed. any other suggestions would be great. Oh we also have two dogs so anything that wont affect them would be apprecitated. thanks.

o Open all the valves all the way. sinks, tubs, etc.
o Crank up the heat all the way
o Open all the cupboards under the sink(s)
o get a space heater under the trailer.
o with a hair drier, blow hot air on the suspected areas.

once the pipes are thawed out, make sure you do not have any breaks in them. the cold causes them to expand, and you might have a burst pipe. If so, you might be calling for a plumber, or try patching up yourself.

Once thawed, make sure you leave your faucets to a steady drip to prevent this from happening again.

You can put a electric heater under the trailer, or a heat lamp to warm things up. Open a faucet and when you hear the water running - it has thawed. Pipes can burst if frozen - keep an eye out for leaking under the trailer.
Next year put straw around the trailer and insulate the pipes better.

The flowing water solution is wrong. Flowing water does freeze--rivers are examples of this. Opening the faucets on water lines helps prevent pressure build up in pipes. The ice expands against trapped air which causes them to burst. Opening valves is not full proof however as ice forms in various places, which traps air between the frozen areas.

heat....
re rout you dryer vent under trailer on one side & open a hole on the other

gotta get'em thawed to see if they're cracked- time is of the essence the longer they freeze the more chance of breakage

You are in trouble now. Once pipes freeze, it is all over. New pipes have to be installed.

if you leave the tap running a little it should help keep them from freezing again - moving water doesn't freeze (at least that's what I've heard)
