lol, i always wonder the same thing.....theres all this new stuff on....what happened to the old programs?? If you have Direct Tv then you can actually order a set of channels, i think its like 50 channels, and you can pick the shows you want on there, within the ones they have....its all old shows, sitcoms, etc...its a bit pricey, but you get a free trial for 1 month, other than that, its about $75 per year.....im not too sure what the website is, but maybe directtv.com or something like that....hope this brightens ur day! Happy Valentine's Day!

All the networks have are shows about killing people or reality shows that you don't need to think to watch; we are becoming robots to the tube. The best shows are on Discovery,Animal Planet,National Geigraphic, Travel Channel, History, Food Network, TV Land, Learning Channel etc.
You can find good viewing if you look, but network shows are too violent. Killing people is NOT entertainment!!! Unless you need pointers on "How to".
Premium channels are no better, once in a while there will be a good movie.
I agree with the person who said do something else, we don't need to watch the idiot box all the time. There's is a lot more to life than TV.

We as an American public need to tune out reality TV and tune into smart, well-written shows. We need to contact the networks and tell them of shows we do or do not like. We also need to let the sponsors know.

There are still good new programs on TV - House, Gray's Anatomy, Little People - Big World - to name a few. Also, reruns are a great thing as well. Why else would we have so many Seinfelds and Golden Girls and Will and Graces on TBS, Lifetime, Nick at Nite, etc. We just need to communicate our wants to networks...

Because sadly TV producers have decided to take the wal-mart approach and appeal to the lowest common denomonator. They know that the sheeple are happy with banal sitcoms and reality TV shows or people making imbiciles of themselves. A wiseman once said "You'll never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American consumer".

Everyone just wants sex, drugs, violence, and low-cut tops. They'll beg for anything and everything the sensors allow. I, too, miss good shows where they didn't show half naked people in the bedroom. I miss having sitcoms that make you laugh without being sick, sick little people. I believe the death of the television era came a while ago and now people like you and me are wallowing in it. It sucks. Bad.

It is called Cable.

The early sitcoms moved to Disney.

The middle sitcoms moved to USA.

And the late shows moved to FX, Showtime and HBO.

All that is left is reality television, game shows, and pseudo news programs, thengs that cost next to nothing to produce.

The networks do one of those sturdy pastime on cancelling large shows which have a lot skill that there is no longer a lot left on sturdy. The particularly sturdy ones, at the same time with visitor, Firefly, useless Like Me, pressure and more than a number of others that i visit't imagine of off the precise of my head get canned almost at the moment. i'm only disgusted and afraid to even watch a unmarried instruct till it really is on for one or 2 seasons. chilly Case is sturdy (even although i replaced into dissatisfied in the season greatest. many times I cry watching them, yet i did not very last nighttime). they many times use track to inform lots of the tale. grotesque Betty is sturdy, only a experience sturdy form of instruct. Battlestar Galactica –Scifi Channel- is very sturdy. darkish and severe. Dexter - HBO? - is particularly sturdy, too.

Everything thing on televison has people shoving their tongues down each other's throat writhing around in the bed, or saying one crude remark or stupid curse word after another. That is the mentality of the idiots that are doing the writing. It also is a reflection of our mentality for letting them get by with it. We rarely watch primetime television anymore.

South Park is an example of crappy programming. Jeffsgirl is right, we have discovered life beyond the tube.

Because everyone accepts what's on. If no one watched it, they'd have to cancel the show. If everyone wrote to the station and complained, they'd have to find something else. If we took an active part in what's on, suggesting what we'd like to see instead, then the networks would have to listen. Especially if we didn't buy the products that they advertised. Money is what drives these shows. Because we accept what is offered, the networks will continue to offer the same fare they've been cranking out, often throwing in their own agenda's, making it seem like what's normal for mainstream America. And we just sit there, like bumps on logs, accepting it. Changing the channel isn't going to change TV. Telling them we're not going to support such trash will. Do what you can. Tell others to do the same. <*)))><

For everyone who is reads this question here are some simple action s you can take to make your televisual experience 100% better:

Un-plug the thing
Open window
Throw out of window
Read book.

Simple, east and effective.

TV is THE WORST thing you can spend your free time indulging in. You'd be better off shooting heroin into your eyes!
We are much more inspired and creative beings than that. Do something with your life other than wasting it being dumbed down by uttley un-funny, crappy sit coms and perpetual commercials for stuff you will never need.
