I dont know how to get rid of my friend we have been friends since HS. I will be 30 this year and I just don't really want her as a close friend anymore. We have had our ups and downs and I change I have grown up a lot in the past year and I just do not really like her personality, she is negative and very messy ALL the time. I am tryin to get myself together, finish nursing school and surround myself around positive and moral oriented people. She has been just dead weight for a very long time. We do not live in the same state but she still finds time to call, text, and email everyday and since the New Year I have been ignoring her and have not called her phone at all, I answer every other 3 TM she sends me and I know she knows I am ignoring she she is emailing me and I ignored that too. I do not want to mean but I just thought maybe she would just back off slightly but it seems like the more I ignore her the more she trys to contact me. I dont like her as a person for so many reasons.

I am sure I dont want to deal with her, I mean an ocassional phone call, " Hi how r u " would be OK like maybe 2-3 a YEAR but other than that, I have had it. I just dont want to be mean.

Make sure you really don't want her as a friend first (it sounds like you've made up your mind but maybe you still answer her messages every once in a while because you sort of like her attention). In psychology, they call this intermittent reinforcement. You don't usually reply, but since you still do sometimes, your friend thinks you still care and tries even harder when you don't reply. You have been a dangling a carrot (leading her on). If you truly want her out of your life like you say you do, respond to one of her emails that you don't think you should talk anymore because you have a different life now and want different things. If she wants to know more, just tell her you don't mean to hurt her, but you don't want to be friends and that's that. If you have a problem being direct with her, maybe you aren't 100 percent sure you want to cut off all contact yet (or you're scared she'll harass you?).

oh boy this is a hard one! i would just keep ignoring her. maybe get your number changed, if it is a verizon phone, you can call and tell them that your getting horrassing phone calls and they will change it for free. make sure you don't give her the number. maybe get another email account, with whatever email account she is emailing, then you won't have to check thoes emails everyday and see that she has emailed you! and if she asks then tell her you have been supper busy w/ work and with school! And right now you just don't have the time! maybe you can get ahold of her later! i hope this helps you!GL
