They have always been full of murders - EastEnders opened with a murdered Reg Cox being discovered.
It's more the other way round; crime series are all turning into soaps - The Bill, Heartbeat (although that always had soapy elements)

I was going to say it may depend where you live and which soaps you mean....but then I realised it don't matter much.
My answer is yes.
More worryingly.........my place of work is going to end up as CSI Warrington. The boss thinks he's a forensic sleuth. .....

It's always been that way.
But the old women/housewives are getting bored of the same dramatic music and they want MORE sex and violence. They're like a bunch of 10-year-old kids. They just want more and more.
