Yes, If as a band, all you are interested in is the money, the lifestyle, or the recognition. Then it is inevitable, no matter how talented you are, that you will boom and then bust. Part of it is that there is just too much competition, too many people who want the same thing. Great music cannot win over simple economics.
But if you have the talent, the creativity, the determination. If you are more interested in Art, than popularity, and if you have a loyal base of fans who are not crowd followers. Then chances are you can make it in the long run, if you are good enough, (and stupid crazy enough.)
This is generally true of any kind of artist, though being a shameless self promoter doesn't hurt either, as long as you can live up to all your big talk.

There's a very simple explanation to that question:
Money! Most record companies are greedy corporate ******* who just want more and more and more. Artists are forced to compromise them selves in order to shift untis or they will be dropped and ultimatley end up with Satan's pecker in thier butts. It's really sad and pathetic. The music industry is nothing but a business and has NOTHING to do with music or art anymore. All these new bands are simply puppets controled by a huge corporation of greedy fat cats. Burn your CDs and read a book instead!

Rock bands sell out for MONEY. They have a big hit with their one slow song on the album, so the record company pushes that type of music, because it sells more albums. Only true rockers think about the fans, and the rest just think about the money.

I think most of them start out as nobodys. They do a few shows and people like them, but their not getting anywhere and they realize it's hard to get recognized out there, but once they get signed and are famous for awhile, they start to let it get to their head, and that's why they slowly deteriate. People don't want to see their favorite band acting like their 'so amazing', they want to see a band that remembers where they came from, REALLY came from, not just saying that like most celebs do. They want a band that sticks with the rock music, not slowly drifts into the pop world. And as for simple plan, three words: New York Minute.

I suppose thats a matter of opinion.
The truely good bands will stay around.
Alot of un-signed bands create some of the best music i have heard.
Alot of bands in the charts aren't that good, many less well known bands are often better musicians and song writers.

Simple Plan is currently working on their 3rd album. It will be out soon. I don't no about any of the other bands, but most of the bands, that I like, do it because it's their dream.

Because you hand someone millions that had nothing before and they will change, then they will spend all their money and no longer be around anymore.
