Trying to plan a summer road trip with my buddy. We wanna go from Toronto, Ontario to Malibu, California and back within 2 weeks if possible. Anybody have any idea of the best way we could do it and any approximate cost idea you might have?? All the best!!

Would it cost less to fly there?

two weeks is not much time at all, and there are long stretches with not much to see or do. Gas prices at this point are also a big negative, and make flying economical.

You can probably find cheap flights to LA, San Diego or Las Vegas, and rent a car there. The Cali coast is beautiful; I'd rather spend time meandering up it than crossing endless monotonous flatlands with nothing worth stopping for.

With the cost of gas being what it is, it just might be cheaper to fly. I drove from Northern New York state to California and it's not that fun. I guess it depends on how long you like sitting in a car for. You could do more in 2 weeks if you flew to your destination. You can estimate the cost of your trip by checking out travelocity or orbitz.

for my area, going east is completely more desirable sensible than going west because that's only an a lot less complicated vacation common. Toronto to Halifax is about 18 hours of highway time, no longer at the same time with a jaunt out to PEI. you may hit Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec city, the Bas-St. Laurent area for some nature and whale watching, hit Fredricton and Moncton on your thanks to PEI, and from the little island you may head to Halifax. i particularly loved Halifax and the encircling area (Peggy's Cove, wineries outdoors the city, etc.) you may make larger the vacation further by technique of capturing as a lot as Sydney. And if you're making this a very lengthy and expensive adventure, you may take the ferry over to Newfoundland. note that this can dramatically enhance the fee and length of your vacation, so completely plan for it beforehand of time if that's what you want to do. in case you want to pass west, you're more desirable sensible off dealing with the U. S.. Canadian desert is massive, yet there is only soooo a lot empty area on the pressure westward with the help of Ontario. in case you pass with the help of the U. S., you may visit Chicago, then turn decrease back as a lot as attain in Winnipeg interior of an identical volume of highway hours as in case you had taken the Trans-Canada. From Winnipeg, it is going to likely be yet another 9 hours or with the objective to get to Regina or Saskatoon, and the drives do not get any shorter from there. there are a range of serious issues to work out going west, yet they're only so some distance aside. because you'd be sight seeing, it is going to take you more desirable than per week only to get to the Pacific coast, now to not indicate coming decrease back homestead. it really is a great vacation if you're up for it, yet be able to spend numerous weeks away, and practice for a loooooot of driving.
