I live in the country and i cannot find a roofer willing to come that far. When i have been successful in getting some one to come out they never return.

If you have a Home depot in your area they usually have Do-it-yourself workshops on a regular basis.
Another outside the box solution is contact your local high school. Many have a Vocational tech course and it may be possible to "donate" your home for training. (You purchase supplies).
as a final solution there are many do it yourself type sites around the internet, a bit of reading and surfing with google can probably find you the information you need.

Maybe you can offer a little more money for the trip the roofer has to take to get out there. Make sure he is licensed and have everything in writing in case he skips out before the job is done. And do not pay until it is completely done. If your stuck on diy than you can use a black silicone or roofing mastic sold in the tube or gallon cans and dab it on wherever its leaking.

What is the nature of the roof problem?

I can think of two reasons why a roofer would not return... either the problem is too small (he would spend more on getting out there, than he would make), or its too big.

Describe the problem, and perhaps we can walk you thru, how to repair it. (pictures if possible, would be excellent)

Good Luck

Would have to know more about the nature of the problem to really give you an answer. If you have a local lumber yard or hardware store, then why not ask them for suggestions. One would have to be really remote to not be able to find a local handyman to repair something at a fair price.

thats quite a general question to get a specific answer. silacone calking will waterproof many things, roofing tar sold in 1 gal cans can also do a small leak. chances are leaks happen around valleys or chimney flashing.check in your attic for wet spots on the roof sheeting underneath to give you an idea where to find your leak.

the key here is you did get someone to come out but never returned, most people who live in the country are very frugal with their money to put it lightly they never want to spend a dime to fix their places up so quit wasting their time or just pay what they deserve.

cash!!!

go get a roofer at a new home subdvision, get him in your car ( cash, they're stupid, illegal aliens )... bring him to your place & have the materials there & tell him to fix it, all the while waving cash at him & promising to bring him back when done. Have a reliable revolver in the other pocket!
